Thu 9th Oct

Today at the Rag Bowling Club we played the League Doubles Merit. In the first of the Semi-Finals Tim Jones and Glenn Wilson defeated Jimmy Swan and Maurice Evans 21 Shots to 3. In the second Semi-Final Phil Owen and Tony Weldon defeated Pam Parkinson and Edwina Buckner 21 Shots to 9. In the Final Tim Jones and Glenn Wilson finally defeated Phil Owen and Tony Weldon 21 Shots to 13. Fred Perry thanked everyone for attending and supporting the 50+ League.  

Thu 2nd Oct

Today at the Rag Bowling Club we played the Division Two Singles Merit. In the Semi-Finals Barry Tipper defeated John Meddings by 21 shots to 7 and Burt Reynolds defeated David Chamberlain 21 shots to 6.

     The Final produced a superb game and congratulations to both bowlers with Burt Reynolds Hednesford X Service finally defeating Barry Tipper Museum A by 21shots to 17 shots.

 

Wed 1st Oct

The Division Two Singles Merits take place on Thursday 2nd October 2025 at the Rag Bowling Club with the draw taking place at 1215pm. Refreshments will be provided.

The Division Two Doubles Merit will take place on Thursday 9th October 2025 at the Rag Bowling Club with the draw taking place at 1215pm. Refreshments will be provided.

Many congratulations to Dave Wright on winning the Division One Singles Merit today winning by 21 Shots to 15 against Alan Parsons with Terry Pitt and Alan Lees as losing Semi-Finalists.

Dates for your diary:-

 

The Prize Presentation and Buffet for the 2025 season will be at Bridgtown at 13.00hrs on Thursday 6th November.

The cost is £5 pp and tickets can be purchased by sending the money to Will Bird the Treasurer, preferably by bank transfer.

 

The Annual General Meeting for the 2026 season will be at Ashmole at 14.00hrs on Thursday 5th February.

DIVISION 2 MERITS. These will be played at the RAG. on the 2nd October (Singles) & the 9th October (Doubles). With thanks to the Rag for keeping their green open.
DIVISION 3 MERITS   CANCELED   Due to no green being available.
 
King Charles 111 Cup.  Following this Thursday's round of matches we will be left with the 
Semi-Final and Final. As last year, both will be played on the same day( 25th September) using the Museum and Crown Green greens. The format for the day will be sent to the relative captains in due course.

There have been many requests for the King's Cup 111 fixture list, so hold my hand and let us have a look at the website.

 

2025 Fixtures:  no that's the league.

 

2025 Competition Dates: that sounds promising, no, not there either.  (There is a blip there in that the final is listed before the semi final, but as they are both on the same day and the same place - So What!)

 

2025 Competition Results: that also sounds promising as you can't enter results without the fixtures.  FOUND IT!

 

So there you have it - just follow the logic of the menus.

KING CHARLES 111 CUP

RULES 2025

  1. Entry open to all Lichfield over 50s Clubs.

  2. All teams entered to receive a handicap based on previous seasons final placing.

  3. Matches to be played on a 4 home 4 away basis, on dates agreed by the committee.

  4. Cards to be numbered prior to the match draw and checked before the match starts.

  5. Winners of a round shall be the team who record the best aggregate. In the event of a drawn result, the following procedure takes place to determine a winner. (a) The highest number of wins. If no result. (b) The score from both cards in match one, if still no result, then card two and so on.

  6. Players must have played in minimum 3 league matches to compete in the final.

  7. The semi-final and final to be played at the Beacon Park bowling greens on the same day.

  8. All other playing rules as stipulated in the league rules.
