7 Notice of Motion
a) Scoring System
Proposal from Vikki Wilson, Rugeley Progressive Bowling Club
Please can you take this letter as an official proposal for the next AGM.
I propose that the league scoring be changed from team points for a win, to points won per game with or without extra points for winning the aggregate. It can be very disheartening going on as the last player knowing that the game is already won or lost and by gaining a point per game it gives every player something to play for.
Meeting guidance as per Bye-laws 6. – this proposal will need ‘to be formally seconded by another club at the meeting. A two-thirds majority of all persons entitled to vote is necessary to pass any Notice of Motion. At all meetings the Chairperson shall have the casting vote.
b) Amendments if point (a) is passed – not needed if it isn’t.
If the above motion is passed then amendment will be required to the following:
1. Rules for League Competition point 4. This currently reads as below.
All teams shall play each other on a Home and Away basis, on dates fixed by the League Secretary. The winner of a match shall be the team who gains the highest overall aggregate score, and will receive 2 points for their win. In the event that the aggregate scores are equal, 1 point will be awarded to each team. The team gaining the most points shall win the championship of each Division. In the event of one or more teams gaining the same number of points, the team with the best aggregate of Total Shots For less Total Shots Against, will be declared the winner. A movement of teams shall exist in respect of promotion and relegation; 2 up and 2 down throughout all divisions.
The line highlighted will need to be re-written. The following is proposed with the rest of the paragraph staying the same:
.... The winner of each individual game will score 1 point for their team. The team who gains the highest overall aggregate score for the match will in addition receive 2 points. ........
2. Rules for Knockout Cups point 5.
No change is proposed to this competition due to its one off nature. Therefore this will remain as ‘Winners of a round shall be the Team who record the best aggregate.’
8 League Structure
Clubs need to confirm prior to the start of the AGM whether or not they are submitting team(s) for the 2023 season. This is also the cut off for any clubs proposing new teams as well.
Teams dropping out of the league – none notified.
