Tue 10th Jun Evening All
We have been approached by a couple of clubs asking whether its possible to set up a Saturday afternoon league in 2026 as it seems there is some new players to the game not getting much game time to further their experience in the sport and as we should all be encouraging new players to the sport its worth exploring whether there would be much interest in setting it up.
Probable format would be an 8 a side team with four singles and two doubles each match starting at 2pm every Saturday during the season. Obviously match fees as all leagues would have to be set at a reasonable level to make it pay to be run.
If there was interest from clubs for more experienced players to have a team, we could set up two individual leagues one for novices and one for players with experience we would have to distinguish between both in the rules.
Full set of league rules would need to be compiled and agreed upon by members. It would be run by North Shropshire Parks County Association which most of you as clubs are already affiliated too so there would be no club affiliation fee required for yourselves.
If this is something your club might be interested in for 2026 to further your clubs' members and income, please let Marie and myself know before the end of July.
So, a plan of action can be drawn up in plenty of time.
