Week 1 Review

Our first result from the league was Is this the top green at the Bayley earning the win with a 21-6 win by Will Childs helping seal the aggregate. But Too Cold For This will be happy starting with four winners. Luke Boniface was best winner for Too cold for this 16.

Another 4-4 on Tuesday night with just two chalks in it as James Mammone's 21-5 win meant that Castlefields Development shaded the aggregate over Norman's Pigeons, who had Dean Heighway as their best winner 10.

The Crown Collective earned a good 5-3 win over Horsehay Misfits but the best thing was seeing four under 18s playing in the match. Chris Edwards was best winner 6, while Luis Reeves carried his dad Steve to win 9 in the doubles.

Thursday saw Sixes Aside go to the top of the table with a 7-1 win over Shropshire CEA. Johnny Davies was best winner 7 and Jon Lea the winner for the CEA 11.

Friday saw the first meeting between two of the home teams and Winter Warriors took the bragging rights 6-2 winning all of the singles, Sonya Lucas best winner 3. Ben Delves and Lee Taylor won the doubles though to earn Cold hands hot woods two points.

I know there were a few teething problems but hopefully everyone enjoyed the first week and that we all can settle down as the weeks go on.

Wednesday sees The Crown Collective, another home based team, play Horsehay Misfits, who contain a few from the Horsehay team that were in their Premier League side. Sixes Aside, from Sinclair, take on Shropshire CEA on Thursday, with both teams looking for a winning start, while two home teams meet on Friday with early bragging rights up for grabs. Winter Warriors, containing three Premier League players from the Bayley and potentially starting as favourites, have Cold Hands Not Woods, containing a few players who have started bowling just this season. Good luck to all 10 teams taking part this season!
